We send out email notifications regarding order related issues including problems with credit card approval and item availability updates.

What notifications will I receive regarding my order?
The most frequent email notices we send are to confirm receipt of your order and to inform you as items in your order are shipped. We also send notifications about issues such as changes in the expected shipping time frame, problems with billing, and cancellation notices.

How do I cancel an item from an order?
Once your order has been accepted and scheduled to ship there are limited modifications that you can make to your order. To have us adjust your order, please call 773.506.0683 or email us at info@sternsbookseller.com.

How do I return items bought from stersbookseller.com?
It's easy to return an item if you're not satisfied. We will issue a refund to your original form of payment for items returned within 7 days. Items must be returned in their original condition.

Returns are accepted within 7 days of the date that you received your order. Books (in their original, unopened condition) can be mailed with the original packing slip to:

If you prefer, bring the item and your packing slip to Stern's Books within 7 days of receipt.

If your return is shipped or brought to a store after the timeframes indicated above or without a packing slip, we regret that we cannot issue a refund or send the merchandise back to you. Please note: Shipping charges are non-refundable.

What is the process for replacing a damaged item?
Notify us about the situation, and we will provide a merchandise return label and place a new order. When the damaged item is received, we will credit your account appropriately.
